It is a strategic goal for us and a requirement of our daily operation to minimise accidents and contribute to the greatest extent possible to the safe travel of every driver.
Aiming for optimal maintenance of all the infrastructure we manage, our company’s specialised personnel carries out regular and thorough inspections throughout the entire length of the motorways, and is always on standby to respond to emergencies in cases of accidents. Furthermore, during construction special attention is paid to geometric planning, and traffic and safety signal design.
Every day, so as to provide a comprehensive service in dealing with emergency incidents, we offer a host of services to motorway users:
- The 1075 four-digit emergency telephone number that users can call either from their mobile telephone* or from the emergency telephones placed along the motorway or the tunnels.* Charges according to each mobile telephony provider’s policy
According to Decision No 966/2 – Government Gazette Series II/No 5266/30-11-2020 of the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT), we inform drivers that calling 1075 is subject to the tariff policy of each mobile and landline telephony provider. In collaboration with the Traffic Management Centre, the four-digit emergency telephone number, and the competent state services, Kentriki Odos’ patrols are always at the side of every driver.
- The Motorway Traffic Management Centre, fully equipped with special systems to more safely regulate traffic, and for the integrated and timely handling of all incidents, as well as the specialised Tunnel Traffic Management Centre.
- The SOS emergency telephones throughout the length of the motorway, which are operated free of charge, to communicate with the Traffic Management Centres.
- Free roadside assistance to immobilised vehicles to transport them to a safe area and avoid traffic obstructions.
The Road Safety Policy describes the commitment to implementing higher Road Safety specifications, clearly and in detail.
Lastly, for the Management of the Motorway Operation & Maintenance Vehicle Fleet, a Road Safety Management System is being implemented, which has been certified in accordance with the ISO 39001:2012 standard
